FM27 regens: how to find newgens in your save

To find regens in FM27, open MacLibero RT and click “Regens” under “Ready-made searches”: you get every player the game created, which you can sort by potential. In the player search, the “Regens only” checkbox combines with your other filters, and each regen carries a “Regen” badge on his profile. It is free, on Mac.

Regens, or newgens, are the players Football Manager 27 invents: youth intakes, and the extra players it creates to fill the world when a save starts. The game does not label them anywhere you can see. MacLibero RT, the native Mac app that reads your single-player FM 27 save, picks them out for you.

FM27 regens: how to find newgens in your save (Mac)

How do you find regens in FM27?

  1. Open MacLibero RT, click “Launch FM 27”, load your save, then click “Refresh from game” (⌘R).
  2. In the sidebar, under “Ready-made searches”, click “Regens”.
  3. The player list opens with only the players created by the game. Sort it by PA to put the best prospects on top.
  4. Open a player: a “Regen” badge sits next to his positions, at the top of the profile.

The ready-made search keeps your men / women setting, so you see the regens of the side of the game you play.

How do you combine “Regens only” with other filters?

In the player search, the “Regens only” checkbox sits in the filter bar, next to the team menu. Tick it, then add the filters you already use: age, PA, position, nationality, contract. A few useful combinations:

  • Regen wonderkids: “Regens only” + 21 or under + PA at least 150 (the same criteria as the “Wonderkids” search, see how to find FM27 wonderkids).
  • Free regens: “Regens only” + no contract: most players generated at the start of a save have no club and cost no fee.
  • Your country's regens: “Regens only” + a nationality, for home-grown rules.

The checkbox is greyed out for a moment after launch, while the app reads the game's original database.

How does MacLibero RT detect a regen?

The game has no regen flag we could read in a player's record. What it does have is an ID counter: every person FM 27 creates gets a unique ID above the highest ID of its original database. MacLibero RT reads that highest ID from the database files of your FM 27 install (2,002,042,639 for the current build), and flags every player whose ID is above it.

We checked the method on a test save: none of the players from the original database is above that ID, and every player missing from it is.

How many regens are there at the start of a save?

More than you think. On our test save, early in the first season and before any youth intake, MacLibero RT found 430 regens, 280 of them men. They are the players the game generates when the save starts: mostly 15 and 16-year-olds, plus a few adults, almost all without a club. Each yearly youth intake then adds more.

Some are worth a look: two of those generated adults, Daniel Ławrynowicz and Dominik Gumny, are free agents with a PA above 180.

What are the limits?

  • Players generated at the start count as regens. They were not in the original database, so for MacLibero RT they are newgens like the others.
  • Modified databases: if your save uses editor files or added data, the people they add get IDs outside the original database and also show as regens.
  • Players only: the badge and the filters cover players, not staff.

What can you do with a regen?

Everything you do with any player: read his CA and PA, his hidden attributes and his stats for free. With a licence, you can also edit him, or turn a promising youngster into a star with FM27 create a wonderkid.

Regens are read from your save at the last refresh: after a youth intake, press ⌘R to see the new ones.

What you need

Finding regens is part of the free scouting: no licence, no account. MacLibero RT runs on Macs with Apple Silicon or Intel, macOS 15 or later, with single-player saves of FM 27 (Steam or Epic Games). A licence (€6.99 once) is only needed to edit the game: see pricing and the FM27 Mac editor comparison.
